Young musicians jazz up their schedule
Young musicians will be upping the tempo when they dash between two concerts in one night on Thursday 12 July in Stratford.
County Music Service Musicians will be hot footing it across Stratford with their instruments in tow when they play two concerts concurrently on Thursday 12 July.
An Early Music Concert is being held at the Town Hall from 7pm and a special Jazz Showcase starts at 7.30pm at the Civic Hall.
The concerts are a joint venture between Warwickshire County Council’s Music Service and local schools.
Caragh Wall and Chloe Bird (pictured) from Shipston High School are just two of the musicians who are in ensembles and choirs for both events. Caragh Wall will be playing saxophone and recorder while Chloe will be playing flute and recorder.
The school jazz bands taking part in the Civic Hall showcase come from King Edward VI School, Stratford Grammar School for Girls, Alcester High School and Studley High School.
They will be joining the Music Centre bands, choir and the renowned County Youth Jazz Orchestra. Tickets for the jazz showcase are £5 for adults / £2 for concessions.
The Early Music Concert at the Town Hall will feature the County Youth Waits, Junior and Intermediate Recorder ensembles, Intermediate Strings and a viol consort from Snitterfield Primary. Tickets are £3 for adults/ £1 for concessions.
Patricia Grimshaw of Warwickshire County Council’s Music Service said: “We are very proud of our multi-talented young musicians and I am sure they will take the concurrent concerts in their stride.”
