Experts on Social Care visit Warwickshire

Dame Denise Platt, Chair of the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI), is making an official visit to Warwickshire on Wednesday July 18. She will be accompanied by CSCI Commissioner Beryl Seaman CBE and Business Relationship Manager Lesley Ward.

The three visitors will meet staff, carers and care service users in Nuneaton, Leamington Spa and Warwick during the day, and get a chance to chat with users, carers and key staff over lunch in Shire Hall.

The visit comes at an opportune time, as Warwickshire embarks on a wide-ranging review of its 22 Council-owned residential care home sites. The county faces a 35% rise in the number of over-85s within the next 10 years and is looking at ways to provide more choice and improved services for increasing numbers of older people in the decades ahead.

“Dame Denise is at the top of her profession,” said Graeme Betts, Strategic Director of Adult, Health & Community Services for Warwickshire County Council. “We are delighted that she and her colleagues are spending the day here, looking at some of the care services on offer in the county. I am sure the visitors will have valuable insights and advice to offer on how Warwickshire can best move forward.”
