Summer scheme is a real blast!
A summer scheme aimed at young people aged between 9 and 18 from the Asian community is being held at Nuneaton Fire Station this week.
The scheme is being run by Warwickshire County Council’s Fire and Rescue Service as part of a wider commitment for community involvement with ethnic communities. Those attending will take part in a wide range of activities including basic fire fighting training, arts and crafts, dancing, community fire safety sessions, chip pan and fire extinguisher training. They will also be going on a team-building event at Broad Water Camp and Drayton Manor.
Youth Development Manager, Cheryl Jones said:
“After the success of last years event, we are really pleased to be running this course again. The main aim of the sessions are to provide these young people with the opportunity to learn more about the danger of fires in the home, especially during cultural festivals and celebrations. The course should also allow the students to get some hands on experience at using fire extinguishers.”
The course has been funded by Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service and Positive about Young People.
