Why don’t you…? Enter our Summer art competition

With the wet weather perhaps making you think twice about doing any outdoor activities this summer, why not pick up your paintbrushes (or pencils or crayons) and have a go at creating a work of art instead?

Warwickshire County Council has just launched its Summer Art Competition for 2007 and is looking for a lively masterpiece to brighten up its new customer service centre in Bedworth!

The theme of the competition is ‘Diversity in Warwickshire’ – for example, in local areas, communities or the services provided by Warwickshire County Council.

Several prizes, including a grand prize of an iPod Nano, are up for grabs. All Warwickshire residents are free to enter.

There are three age categories: 11 - 14, 15 – 18, and over 18. All entries need to be an original piece and on A3 size paper. The style of artwork is completely open – crayons, pencils and watercolours are all fine – but no collages, please.

Adrienne Bellingeri, Warwickshire County Council’s Customer Service Manager, said: “We hope people of all ages will forget about the rain, get their artistic heads on and come up with a lively bit of artwork for our new offices.

“The top two entries in each category will be permanently displayed in our offices in King’s House in Bedworth and receive prizes, with one overall winner receiving an iPod Nano.”

To enter, post or deliver your artwork to: Art Competition, Warwickshire Direct, Kings House, King Street, Bedworth CV12 8LL by midday on Friday 31 August. Make sure you include your name, address, home phone number, email address (if you have one) and date of birth (if under 18) with your entry, along with details of where you heard about the competition.
