Packmores POD are 5-a-side champions
Youngsters who attend the Packmores POD have won a 5-a-side football tournament for youngsters in the Leamington and Warwick area.
The knock-out tournament, which was held at the Gap Community Centre, involved young people from across Leamington and Warwick and was organised to highlight the dangers of drugs.
Patrick Carroll, sessional worker for Positive about Young People at Warwickshire County Council, said: “The day was a huge success all round, especially for Packmores FC who were victorious throughout!”
He added: “The organisers commented on how respectful and well behaved the team were. We are very proud of the young people from Packmores for winning, but especially for their conduct and attitude ".
The players were Ross Pheasy (14), Ryan Pheasy (15), Tyler Worsley (10), Connor Fletcher-Fathers (12), Dean Taylor (13), Ashley Jones (14), George Clarke (11) and Nathan Jones (14).
The Packmores POD, which is otherwise known as a Positive Operational Drop-in centre, is part of an initiative for Positive about Young People. Positive about Young People is a partnership between Warwickshire County Council and Warwickshire Police. The programme helps thousands of young people by giving them something positive to do and feel part of their communities.
The POD is a steel blue cabin, run by a generator, which is furnished and can be temporarily sited to provide interim solutions to the needs of the community until more permanent arrangement is assessed. A POD provides a place for young people to call their own, in their area and where relationships can be built with sessional workers and with the community.
