Firefighters put the sizzle back into summer fire safety!
Firefighters in Rugby are getting ready to launch their summer fire safety campaign this week with help from local branches of Argos, Blooms and Homebase.
The campaign is being launched by Warwickshire County Council’s Fire and Rescue Service on Friday 10 August at 2.30pm outside Argos at the Clock Towers shopping centre in Rugby.
The launch will mark the beginning of a three-week campaign aimed at highlighting the dangers of summer fire safety, which includes anything from barbeque safety, the safe storage of LPG cylinders when camping and how to use patio heaters safely. During the launch firefighters will be on hand to talk about any fire safety issues you may have and there will also be a range of competitions with great prizes to be won including tent sets, garden table and chairs with parasol, gas stoves and barbeques, all courtesy of Argos, Blooms and Homebase.
Firefighter Paul Haywood said:
“I would like to thank all of the businesses involved, not only for supporting the campaign, but also for their generous donation of prizes. It shows people that fire safety is a real issue, which can affect anyone at any time. However, with the right safety measures in place a fire can often be prevented.
“If you have any questions on fire safety, then just come long on Friday. There are some great prizes to be won for all of the family to enjoy.”
