‘Take another look’ at greener transport

Celebrity look-alikes in Warwickshire are being urged to enter a competition to be the face of a new advertising campaign

A new campaign from Travelwise is attempting to hunt out ‘famous’ faces to use as part of a campaign to appear on buses across the region to ‘take another look’ at alternative methods of transport.

TravelWise is a national campaign to reduce the amount of traffic congestion in local areas by encouraging people to use public transport, walk and cycle more often. Warwickshire County Council has been participating in the National TravelWise campaign since 1999.

The search is now on for familiar faces, such as David Beckham or maybe Jordan, to star in the adverts.

Joanne Rainbow from Travelwise West Midlands, said: “The competition will be a lot of fun and the winners will become local stars in their own right as they will appear on a number of buses in the area.

“The Travelwise campaign aims to the highlight the environmental, financial and health benefits of leaving our cars at home.

“Lots of people want to reduce their carbon footprint and using public transport, cycling or walking - even just for one day a week - could make a big impact. It may be not be a compliment to be told you look like the back-end of a bus but I hope plenty of people will take up the chance to appear there.”

Four winners will be chosen to appear in the adverts, and entries to the competition, which closes on Wednesday August 22, can be emailed to facefactor@coventry.gov.uk with details of whom the sender thinks they look like.

The winners need to be available on Saturday, September 1 and Saturday, September 8 for photo shoots - full terms and conditions can be found at http://www.travelwise.org.uk/westmidlands.
