Warwick Horticultural Show in it 64th Year
A plethora of wines, vegetables and jams will once again be making up the backbone of an event celebrating 64 years in Warwick.
The August Bank Holiday, Sunday 26th and Monday 27th August will see Warwick Horticultural Show arrive at St Nicholas Park in the town.
A host of displays, exhibitions and competitions are being organised as part of the weekend of activities with admission for adults just £1 and free admission for youngsters.
Young talent will be a key focus of this year’s event and Warwick Horticultural Society is working with Warwick Books to encourage young people to become inspired creative writers.
Children can enter by writing a story or poem no longer than two sides of A4 on any subject by Wednesday, August 15, and send it to Chairman Joy Coop at 33 Longfellow Avenue, Warwick.
The winner will receive a book voucher donated by Warwick Books and runners up will receive cash prizes.
Children under 16 can also enter the face on a plate and decorate a greeting card competition. Children under 10 can enter the Miniature Garden Competition (12” x 16”), animal made out of vegetables and colour a picture competition.
As well as competitions for the best vegetables, wines, cakes, jams, crafts and photographs, there’ll also be a raffle with an array of prizes donated by businesses in Warwick.
First prize is a family outing to Warwick Races with a £50 free bet, second prize a meal for 4 at the Rose and Crown and third prize a family outing to Twycross Zoo with many more prizes such as framed photographs, meal vouchers and fresh flower arrangements from other local businesses. Raffle tickets are 20p each or £1 for a book of 5 and are on sale now.
Warwickshire County Council is supporting the event and promoting home composting with a composting quiz and a free compost bin for the winner.
