School admissions just a click away

Applying for a primary or secondary school place is now just a click away with Warwickshire County Council’s new web-based admissions service.

Parents in Warwickshire can access the new on-line admissions system via the County Council website http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/admissions

The admissions webpage also includes links to school and other education websites so that parents can access helpful information such as OFSTED reports and attainment tables. Parents using the online system will receive automatic confirmation of their application and they will also get notification of school place by email on the allocation date.

Nick Williams of Warwickshire County Council said: “We want to make the admissions process as easy as possible for parents and one of the main advantages of the online service is that it offers 24 hour access. We will continue to offer paper-based application packs but we understand that some parents will find web-applications quicker and more convenient.”

Parents who do not have internet access but would like to apply online can use computers provided by Warwickshire County Council at their local library or Warwickshire Direct.

The closing date for applications for both primary and secondary school places is 19 October 2007. If applying for a grammar school place children will need to sit the selection tests and children should be registered with the local authority by 14 September.

Offers will be posted and emailed for primary applications on 1 February 2008 and for secondary applications on 3 March 2008. Admissions information about the application process will still be distributed to parents by post or through schools.

The system is only open to Warwickshire residents.
