Contractors working overtime to clear busy road
Roadworks got underway yesterday on the Birmingham Road in Stratford-upon-Avon to replace a deep sewer connection.
Warwickshire County Council is working with contractors RW Services Ltd to ensure that the road is clear of roadworks as quickly as possible.
As a result, two-way temporary signals have been erected on the road, which will be in operation 24-hours a day, to allow work to take place at the site for the next seven to 10 days.
Cllr Martin Heatley, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “Our highways team always try and minimize disruption where possible, and rather than have three weeks of road works at this site, have agreed that the contractors should work extra hours to finish the job sooner.
“The traffic lights will be in operation 24-hours a day, and the contractors will be working from 7am until 7pm each day to ensure the busy road is clear as quickly as possible.
“There will be disruption on this busy road for the next week or so, and we’d ask motorists to find an alternative route if possible.”
