Family fun day open to all
Firefighters from Nuneaton are inviting families to come along and join in the fun this weekend at their station open day.
The event, which is being run by Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service to raise money for the Fire Service’s Benevolent Fund, will take place between 10am and 4pm at Nuneaton Fire Station, Newtown Road on Saturday 1st September.
Those attending will be able to see and take part in a wide range of activities including rides around the town in a fire engine; a chance to win a brand new Toyota Auris courtesy of Listers Toyota; rifle shooting gallery; bouncy castle and inflatable slide; hair braiding; a road traffic collision and chip pan fire demonstration; balloon race; face painting; and a mini train ride.
Other activities include street, bhangra and belly dancing; a dog show; fashion show by George at ASDA; fun and charity stalls; and volunteers from the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust will be on site looking to recruit more donors.
Throughout the day, food and refreshments will be available from the BBQ, café or beer garden.
Firefighter Rachel Streeting said: “This is an event that we have run for a number of years now and it is always very well attended.
“It is a great day for all of the family to enjoy. As well as finding their way around a fire engine, there will be a lot of fun activities for young and old alike to enjoy. So please come along and join in what should be a real community fun day!”
