Works are getting underway at All Saints
A £300,000 scheme to improve the All Saints area in Leamington, including a new piece of public art, is getting underway on Monday.
It has taken extensive planning, consultation and work with partners to bring the works on Priory Terrace near the Parish Church in Leamington to fruition.
Works, which have come about as a result of Warwickshire County Council, Warwick District Council and All Saints Church all working together, will see repaving at the front of the church, semi-circular ramps installed to improve disabled access, new seating and planting, plus the sculpture by artist Oliver Barratt.
The sculpture is based on the site where the original spring was located in Leamington Spa.
The works are getting underway on Monday and are expected to take about three months to complete.
There is not expected to be any traffic disruption as a result of the works, but pedestrians are being asked to use the footpath opposite. Full access will also be maintained to properties around the area and businesses and the church will operate as usual.
Bus users will find the bus stop is being relocated during the works temporarily to Jephson Gardens and Bath Street.
Cllr Chris Saint, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economic Regeneration, said: “I’m pleased to see this scheme now getting underway, and I believe the whole process has been handled to ensure the works are carried out to enhance and improve this part of Leamington.
“I believe these works will provide an excellent gateway between the old and new town areas.”
Rev Christopher Wilson of All Saints Church said: “It has been extremely useful for us to be involved in this process and I believe the church will benefit from improved access. I’m happy to see this space being regenerated for the benefit of local people.”
