The Warwickshire RINGs newsletter is a unique directory for finding out what natural history events are taking place in your area over coming months, as well as providing information about the dozens of local natural history groups you can join.

The September 2007 edition lists nearly 500 events so far planned for forthcoming months and contact details for over 60 local wildlife groups you can join. These include natural history societies in Coventry, Warwick and Rugby and local branches of national groups such as the RSPB and Butterfly Conservation.

There are local groups for nearly every patch of the Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull area and numerous opportunities for attending outdoor and indoor events.

The newsletter is produced three times a year by Warwickshire Museum.

According to Steven Falk, Senior Keeper of Natural History, RINGs is a unique resource. “I am not aware of any other county where such detailed information is so instantly available,” he says. “This is a unique directory which Warwickshire County Council is keen to make available to as many people as possible in Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull. So whether you’re interested in surveying the moths in your garden, turning detective to trace the survival of the dormouse – or simply country walks and bird watching… there’s something here for nature lovers of all ages and abilities”.

Nature enthusiasts can download the newsletter from the web at the following address: http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/rings or obtain an E-mailed or printed copy from Steven Falk at Warwickshire Museum, Market Place, Warwick CV34 4SA, tel: 01926 412481, email: stevenfalk@warwickshire.gov.uk. The newsletter is published every January, May and September.
