County provides free bus service for Shipston library users
A free minibus service, provided by Warwickshire County Council’s libraries service will take 22 library users from Shipston to Stratford from next week.
Library users who have not been able to use Shipston Library since it was damaged in the recent floods will have an opportunity, on two days a week, to join a minibus service to take them to Stratford Library.
The 22 seater coach, supplied by Johnson’s Coaches, will pick up on Tuesdays at 9.30am from Shipston’s Plantation Stop on Church Street and drop off outside Oxfam in Wood Street, Stratford returning at 12 midday from outside Natwest on Meer Street.
Thursday’s pick up is at 2pm for a 4.30pm start back from Stratford. Pick up and drop off venues remain the same. The service will operate for library users only on a first come, first served basis.
Tanya Butchers, divisional librarian for South Warwickshire, said: “We are delighted to be able to help the people of Shipston continue to use libraries’ services. We are working very hard indeed to get Shipston Library up and running again and hope that this service goes some way towards making up for the inconvenience of not having their own library open.”
For those who only wish to return books, the Stratford District Council area office in Telegraph Street continues to allow people to drop books off. More information is available by calling Stratford Library on 01789 292209.
Shipston Library’s redecoration is underway with minor structural work ongoing after which the refurbishment can be completed.
Tanya Butchers added: “We have made great strides in repairing the damage caused by the floods and staff have rallied round to speed up, as best we can, the process of reopening to the public. We will be keeping the public informed of when the library is likely to reopen as soon as we have a better idea of when that might be.”
