Youth Chorale bids fond farewell to bright young students

Warwickshire’s County Music Service has wished good luck and goodbye to seven of their Youth Chorale members, who will be taking up places at university

The Warwick district members (pictured) who will be leaving for pastures new include Matt Green, a pupil from Aylesford School in Warwick who achieved four A-grades and is taking up a place at Oxford University; Myton School pupils Laura Simmons and Hal Jones who are going to study at Aston University and UWE respectively; and Iain Carson from King Henry VIII School who will be attending Cardiff University.

Another high-flier who will be leaving is James Kuht, a GCSE student from Polesworth School, who beat over 2000 other applicants to start training as an RAF pilot.

“These young people have given so much to the Chorale over the years” said Garry Jones, Director of Warwickshire County Music Service and the Youth Chorale.

He added: “I am not surprised that they have also been successful in their academic studies and future choices – apart from being great fun, singing aids concentration, and requires self discipline and commitment. We are sad to see them go, but thank them for everything they have done to make the chorale so successful.”

Warwickshire County Youth Chorale has a reputation for high quality mixed voice singing. Amongst many other events, it recently performed at the prestigious National Festival of Music for Youth.

“We are now looking to build up another outstanding group”, says Garry. “This year we will be returning to the National Festival, entering other National competitions, and plans for tours, including France and possibly China, are being laid”.
