Council staff full of beans after BIG coffee morning!
It was time for an extra special coffee break and lots of cakes at Warwick’s Shire Hall on Thursday morning, when staff from Warwickshire County Council grabbed a cuppa – and helped raise nearly £300 for charity!
It was all in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’, one of the biggest fundraising events in the UK. An estimated 2 million people around the country raised their mugs for Macmillan last year.
Staff including Warwickshire County Council’s Members Services team organised the big coffee morning and invited their colleagues to bring in cakes they’d bought or baked for the sale.
Louise Denton of Warwickshire County Council’s Member Services said: “Macmillan Cancer Support do a lot of good work to improve the lives of people affected by cancer. One in three people will be affected by cancer, and many of us know someone who has been affected.
“Warwickshire County Council is committed to raising funds for several worthwhile charities and Macmillan is just one of them. Our colleagues certainly had a good time raising the funds, as it involved eating a lot of cake!”
There was also a prize draw for staff, with several donated prizes ranging from a meal for two at The Keep restaurant in Warwick to a bouquet of flowers from Sarah Horne Flowers. Leader of Warwickshire County Council, Councillor Alan Farnell, drew the winning tickets.
