Don't miss out on a school place for your child

Parents in Warwickshire are being reminded not to miss the deadline to apply for school places if their children are due to start primary or secondary school next year.

Forms for children due to start primary or secondary school in September 2008 need to be returned to Warwickshire County Council’s Admissions Service by 19 October.  Children in Year 6 may return their forms to their primary school by Friday 12 October.  Alternatively, parents may apply on line at http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/admissions

Forms have been circulated through libraries, nurseries, schools and health providers. Parents have to select, in order of priority, the schools they wish their child to attend.

Offers of places in primary schools will be posted to parents on Friday 1 February next year.  Secondary school places will be offered on Monday 3 March.

Nick Williams said: “We have more than 13,000 children who will receive an offer of a school place next year.  Parents should be aware that anyone who misses the deadline will be considered as a late applicant. This means that even if they live close to a school they might not get a place for their child if the school is over-subscribed.”

Full details are included on the form, but more information is available from the Admissions Service on 01926 742037, 01926 742047 or email: admissions@warwickshire.gov.uk
