A winning event celebrates local industry
Industry leaders ranging from motorsport racing teams to manufacturers of the latest medical equipment have come together for a showcase event.
Yesterday saw Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire councils bring together senior executives from across the region to network and generate business between diverse sectors.
Cllr Chris Saint, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, said: “Where else could a leading motorsport enterprise meet with experts from the medical or aerospace world to discuss how some technologies bridge the gap?
"Here in Warwickshire we are working to drive the area forward, to make it as viable and attractive to business as possible, and provide a secure platform for the future. We can declare that modern technologies provide us with significant local employment in research, development and manufacturing, something we are keen to foster.”
Jonathan Walls, Marketing Manager, Prodrive, said: "With our automotive technology business based right in the heart of CSW, Prodrive was delighted to sponsor the event and to display examples of our work in performance engineering and performance enhancement.
"Our display on aerospace precision machining was very well received by a number of Midlands businesses who weren’t aware our machining and composites operation is available for external aerospace, marine and automotive customers."
Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire (CSW) held the ‘Celebrating Industry’ event at the Heritage Motor Centre in Gaydon, where guests were treated to exclusive presentations from key industry leaders, including Tony Davis of Medilink West Midlands and Chris Aylett of the Motorsport Industry Association.
Guests were then able to network with their fellow guests from the motorsport, aerospace, medical, automotive and ICT sectors.
CSW High Technology Corridor presented information about how they are helping to accelerate the modernisation and diversification of the region’s economy, stimulate new enterprise and attract new investment. About £15 million worth of investment is expected in the Corridor over the next two years.
The Technology Services Group (TSG) presented a case study detailing why the company moved to the region and the advantages it holds, such as the great infrastructure and easy access to a wide market.
Prodrive, the Warwickshire-based motorsport and automotive technologies specialist, showcased cars including their Le Mans-winning Aston Martin DBR9 race car.
