Council’s denim day raises more than £400 for charity
Warwickshire County Council was awash with denim and jeans on Friday (5 October) when kind-hearted staff at the local authority raised more than £400 for charity!
They included Chief Executive, Jim Graham, who joined staff from across the council by getting into the spirit of national Jeans for Genes Day and dressing down.
Organised by four national charities, Jeans for Genes Day raises funds for research into serious and often life-threatening genetic disorders affecting thousands of children.
Employees also held a charity cake stall at Warwickshire County Council’s headquarters at Shire Hall, Warwick, to raise even more money for the charity.
Jeans for Genes is just one of many worthwhile charities that the county council supports through fundraising activities.
Staff recently took part in the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’, raising nearly £300 for MacMillan Cancer Support.
The council also runs a ‘Pennies from Heaven’ charity scheme, which means that The Mary Ann Evans Hospice in Nuneaton and The Myton Hospices in Warwick and Rugby get a regular monthly donation.
