Pupils get a taste for business
Year 7 students from Higham Lane School in Nuneaton have been taking on an Enterprise Challenge co-ordinated by the Warwickshire Education Business Partnership.
The event involved the 10 year olds taking part in a business simulation whereby they set up and run a Production Company.
The exercise involved them making finance and personnel decisions, purchasing materials and running a production line where they produce the goods, which they then had to sell in order to make a profit.
Local businesses came into the school to offer guidance to the students throughout the event. Companies supporting the initiative include: Lea Marston Hotel, Coventry Building Society, Land Rover, Pastels Day Centre and Stewart, Fletcher and Barrett.
Warwickshire Education Business Partnership works as part of Warwickshire County Council with businesses and schools to help address the constant demand from employers for school leavers to be ‘work ready’.
