Pupils given an insight into possible careers
Everything from zoo keeper to sailor has been revealed to north Warwickshire pupils as possible career opportunities as part of an event at their school.
Year 11 students from Kingsbury School took part in a ‘Careers 4 U’ event organised by the Warwickshire Education Business Partnership.
The event aimed at providing students with an insight into different careers, which may help them to make more informed decisions about their immediate futures.
The students heard from business representatives from companies such as:- Willmott Dixon, Lea Marston Hotel, Royal Navy, Twycross Zoo, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue, Domestic and General, Warwickshire Police and the Army.
The visitors chatted to small groups of students about their job roles, qualifications required, entry routes, and career progression opportunities.
The students had the opportunity to ask questions and to gain as much information as possible, as well as taking part in various activities based around widening their knowledge of different career choices and labour market information.
Warwickshire Education Business Partnership works as part of Warwickshire County Council with businesses and schools to help address the constant demand from employers for school leavers to be ‘work ready’.
