Pupils rise to the style challenge
Year 10 pupils from Avon Valley School in Rugby will be learning how to run their own fashion label today when the Warwickshire Education Business Partnership bring the Style Challenge to school.
With the help of several business advisors who give up their time freely to work with the students, the teams must design, make and model their outfits from a bizarre range of materials.
The students must work out how much it costs to make their item of clothing, who they will sell it too and what they will sell it for.
As the models strut their stuff on the catwalk another member of the team will give a sales pitch presentation to over 200 fellow pupils, business facilitators and staff.
It is a competition and the team who show clear financial planning, enterprise and who run their business well as a team to make a profit will be the winners.
Warwickshire Education Business Partnership works as part of Warwickshire County Council with businesses and schools to help address the constant demand from employers for school leavers to be ‘work ready’.
