Young people put best foot forward with winning design

Young people have put their best foot forward and voted for a brand new logo for Warwickshire’s Youth and Community Service.

The footprint logo, which was unveiled to coincide with National Youth Work Week (1-7 November), was designed by 17 year-old Michael Bishop from Keresley Village in Warwickshire.

Nine designs were submitted to Warwickshire’s County Youth Panel and the overwhelming majority voted for Michael’s logo.

The new logo will now be used on all of the Youth and Community Service’s literature and will be seen throughout the county’s 29 youth and community centres.

As well as youth clubs, the youth and community service provides street-based youth work, residential activities, outdoor education and facilitates the county youth forums and panels, benefiting thousands of young people in Warwickshire.

Michael Bishop, who is a member of Keresley Youth Club, said: “I’m really proud to have mine chosen out of all the other designs that were put forward on the day and I’d really like to pursue a career in this type of work so that I could develop my ideas further.”

Michael and his friend Paul Downing recently worked on a mural for Keresley Youth Club and they have also been commissioned to paint part of Bedworth Youth Club.

Hugh Disley, Head of Warwickshire County Council’s Division for Young People, said: “The service is all about getting involved in positive activities and Michael’s winning design really reflects the idea of putting your best foot forward.

"Young people wanted a singular identity for their service and we are delighted that the new logo has been designed by young people for young people.”
