Rescuers hunt for missing colleagues
Rescuers are this lunchtime continuing their hunt through the debris of a massive warehouse for three missing colleagues.
Experts in search and rescue have today described the massive task in finding the three missing firefighters.
John Hall of Herfordshire and Worcestershire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We have completed a search of about 50 per cent of the first floor and we are now searching the ground floor area.
“It is difficult to explain just what this building is like and the kind of search we have to undertake. Basically it’s like walking into St Paul’s Cathedral, going from one side to the other searching, while rebuilding the floor and roof supports as you go.”
Glenn Ranger, Head of Warwickshire’s Fire and Rescue Service, said: “Warwickshire’s firefighters are absolutely committed to bringing out their colleagues. It’s been extremely difficult for them, but they will be the ones to bring them out.”
Warwickshire Police is continuing an appeal for any information about the cause of the fire on 01926 415000.
