Christmas comes early for literary enthusiasts!
Warwickshire County Council, in partnership with Warwick Books, is inviting local residents to an evening of festive fun to meet their favourite authors!
The event, which will take place on Wednesday 21 November at Warwick library, will see a host of local and national authors bringing their work to life through their love of literacy. The evenings events will begin at 7pm and members of the public can come along and have a chat with authors, learn more about the work they do and buy signed books, just in time for Christmas!
Graham Sutherland, Warwick’s town crier and an expert on Leamington Spa, is master of ceremonies. He will be introducing many fellow writers, historians and poets.
Speaking on the night will be Robin Leach, a Kenilworth resident of 35 years, the last 20 of which have been spent researching and writing ‘Victorian Kenilworth and its People’ an account of a bygone time when the famed railway station was in its hay day and people bathed in Abbey Fields.
Rosie Goodwin, Warwickshire’s answer to Catherine Cookson, whose romantic regional sagas have become bestsellers, will be signing books and talking to the public.
Other well-known speakers will include the eccentric children’s author Wolfren Riverstick whose children’s book ‘A Cat Called Ian’ has proved as popular with adults as children and Meg Harper, a Warwickshire secondary schoolteacher, who has achieved national recognition with her ‘My Mum’ and ‘Saint Jenni’ series.
The Stratford-based duo Annie Ashworth and Meg Sanders who have come together to write six novels between them under the penname Annie Sanders are on hand to chat to the public and sign copies of their works as is Mark Robson, a former RAF pilot turned children’s author with six books to his name.
Children’s craft sessions and Christmas card workshops, will also be taking place throughout the evening. Mince pies and refreshments will also be available.

The authors cover everything from science fiction to the buildings of Warwick, and there is sure to be something to interest everyone. We do hope lots of people come along and have a really good time mixing with their local authors."

There is a wealth of local talent, much of which we have assembled in one place, and this is a wonderful chance for people to get to see it and enjoy it and maybe get some ideas for difficult Christmas presents.”
