Enterprising students take charity challenge

Students at Brooke School in Rugby will be joining in with the national Enterprise Week activities when they take the Charity Design Challenge tomorrow.

This Enterprise Business Event is being organised by the Warwickshire Education Business Partnership, working as part of Warwickshire County Council with businesses and schools to help address the constant demand from employers for school leavers to be ‘work ready’.

The students from the special school will be a design company for the day and design T-shirts for a charity of their choice. They will then create their designs on real T-shirts, and get to grips with the finances as they work out how much it costs to make the prototype and decide on a price at which to sell their T-shirts.

The profit they make will go to their chosen charity. The event concludes with a fashion show when the students exhibit their designs and present their business plans.

Business representatives from Warwickshire County Council, Hanson, Nationwide Building Society and Rugby Town Centre Partnership will be on hand to offer advice and support to the teams as they run their own businesses for the day.
