Complaints in the spotlight in Warwickshire

How councils deal with complaints – and compliments – from local people will be the topic of a national event taking place in Warwickshire this week.

The event has been organised by Warwickshire County Council as part of a review it is currently carrying out of how it handles complaints.

Representatives from 14 local authorities from across the country are set to attend – some from as far afield as Pembrokeshire in Wales and Wakefield in West Yorkshire.

Staff from local councils including Coventry City Council, Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council, Rugby Borough Council, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council and Warwick District Council will also be there.

Local Government Ombudsman, Anne Seex, will be special guest speaker at the event.

Karen Smith, Customer Services Manager at Warwickshire County Council, said: “We’re currently reviewing how we handle corporate complaints and we are looking forward to hearing about how other authorities do this. There will be a very practical emphasis on what works, or doesn’t.”

The event will be opened by Warwickshire County Council’s Chief Executive, Jim Graham, and Leader of the Council, Councillor Alan Farnell, will give the closing address.
