Home Wood Chipping Service waiting times reduced

Waiting times for Warwickshire County Council’s Home Wood Chipping Service have dramatically reduced from up to six weeks earlier this year to about seven to ten working days.

The popular service has, since its launch in may 2003, reduced the amount of waste taken to household waste sites by more than 4,000 tonnes.

And despite the end to Government support for the scheme earlier this year, Warwickshire County Council has continued to provide, and improved, on the service - seen as a crucial part of the county’s waste reduction strategy.

There is a nominal charge as follows: £15.00 – per visit (maximum stay 1 hour) - payment must be made at the time of booking, using a valid debit card, (credit cards will be charged a handling fee). Payment by cheque can be arranged.

If the householder has a large amount of material to be processed, a subsequent hour can be booked for £10. This has to be done at the time of the initial booking and will result in a fee of £25 being charged for a visit lasting not more than two hours.

Ken Simons, County Forester at Warwickshire County Council, said: "The service reduces waste to landfill, but also leaves householders with an environmentally friendly product for garden use.

“We still advise people to book in advance of carrying out any work, but we hope that the reduced waiting times will make the service even more attractive.”

To make a booking ring 01926 738827 between 9am and 12.15pm, there will be an answerphone outside these hours.
