The partnership has secured funding to provide some business support for the town’s independent shops.

The initiative is aimed at supporting businesses through the period of disruption caused by the regeneration of the town centre including the construction of the Waitrose supermarket and refurbishment of Talisman Square.

Partners Kenilworth Town Council, Discovery Properties, Kenilworth Chamber of Trade, Warwickshire County Council and Warwick District Council have got together to appoint retail consultants, Retail Workshop, to work with retailers.

The programme begins in the New Year and will initially focus on the shops in Millar Court and Talisman Square although a series of workshops are planned which will be open to all independent retailers in the town.

Norman Vincett, leader of Kenilworth Town Council, said: “The Town Council are very happy to provide some financial support to the town’s retailers in the light of the short term difficulties they are facing.”

This was echoed by Hugo Hawkings, Chief Executive of Discovery Properties Limited who said: "We are really pleased to support this initiative and hope that it will have a positive effect on our tenants and others during the refurbishment of Talisman Square. We believe that the retailers who are continuing to trade throughout the work will really benefit from this help."
