Funeral of Ashley Stephens
The third funeral of the firefighters killed in the warehouse blaze at Atherstone-on-Stour took place yesterday.
The funeral of Ashley Stephens, 20, took place at St Nicholas Church, Alcester at 11.00am.
Ashley was the youngest of the firefighters to lose their lives in the tragedy and is survived by father Paul, also a firefighter at Alcester Station, mother Sharon, brother Shaun, sister Kerry.
Ashley was also engaged to Emma with whom he had a three month old son George.
Speaking of Ashley, County Fire Officer William Brown spoke of his pride in working alongside men who place such a high value on the safety of their communities and praised the late firefighter for his quiet dedication and willingness to get on with the job quietly.
