Road policing arrangements for the funeral of firefighter Darren Yates Badley
The funeral for Darren Yates Badley, the last of the four firefighters who died in the warehouse fire at Atherstone on Stour, in November, will take place at St Nicholas Church, Alcester on Friday 7 December at 11.00am.
The funeral is expected to attract a large number of people and police in Alcester, working with the fire service and other partners, have produced a comprehensive road traffic and public safety plan to ease congestion and minimise disruption.
Seggs Lane, Globe Roundabout, Swan Street, High Street, Church Street, Henley Street and Butter Street will be closed from approximately 09.15hrs until approximately 11.30hrs on Friday and motorists are advised to use the alternative route along the A46 and A435 into Alcester.
In addition, the A422 Stratford Road up to the junction with the A46 is closed from 8am until 6pm but access is available for residents and businesses to Oversley Village.
There will be no public parking in or around the church and visitors are requested to use the Bulls Head car park.
Members of the public are reminded that due to the large numbers of mourners attending the funeral seats within the church will be limited and the majority of people will be standing outside.
They are requested to heed the instructions of police officers at the scenes for their own safety and the safety of others as well as respecting the needs of the family and mourners as they say farewell to their loved one.
They are also advised to be prepared for inclement weather and wear suitable clothing and footwear.
