“A shining example”
Employees from Warwickshire County Council set a shining example when they became the first to volunteer for a new project to promote volunteering to local employers and their staff.
The North Warwickshire Area Team (Bill Basra, Alistair Rigby, Phyl Wilcox and Joanne Roberts) based in Atherstone swapped their normal Monday morning duties to volunteer at Polesworth Abbey Church.
They helped to re enact scenes of the “Baby Jesus” Nativity to children from local schools.
Bill Basra, Area Manager said: "The whole team found it an enjoyable and rewarding experience. It was good to get an insight into the work of the Abbey Church.
"It also showed that community events such as these rely upon the goodwill, hard work and organisational skills of many volunteers. The day demonstrated the importance of local employers such as Warwickshire County Council allowing their staff to put something back into the community’
