Providing a ‘Rolls Royce’ service

One of the world’s most famous brands is working closely with Warwickshire County Council to develop the management skills of their staff through working with primary school pupils.

A major focus on a week long training course for new Rolls Royce managers is the work they undertake with local pupils through the Warwickshire Education Business Partnership.

Rolls Royce invites newly appointed managers to attend the week’s training course in Warwickshire. The managers are drawn from all Rolls Royce locations worldwide and occasionally delegates arrive from China, Canada, Continental Europe and the USA as well as closer to home. As such, approximately 30 managers who are unlikely to have met each other before attend each course.

During the week the managers are set various tasks, and a major focus in the week is to work as a team delivering part of the curriculum in five South Warwickshire primary schools.

One of these sessions is taking place today involving the following schools: Haselor; Coughton; Studley Infants; St Mary’s Studley; and Henley in Arden. Here they will spend one afternoon delivering part of the Science and Technology National Curriculum.

The schools identify the challenge they would like the pupils to take part in. After a briefing at the school the teams have just a few hours to plan and prepare the two-hour lesson.

Rolls Royce Project Aims are:
To understand (through practice and application) the benefits to leadership and management of:-
