Brightening up Christmas
Janice Haggan, Home Care Supervisor in Rugby for Warwickshire County Council, has been calling on colleagues to donate Christmas goodies to brighten up Christmas for soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Janice’s inspiration to get involved came from her brother-in-law, Lee and she has been supported all the way by Margaret Fensome, Home Care Manager in Rugby.
Janice said:
“Lee used to serve in the forces and still has lots of friends there so he has been busy packing shoe boxes with a variety of goodies, to send off to soldiers who won’t be at home this Christmas. Our aim is to put together 100 boxes!
“Hopefully our efforts will bring a smile on Christmas Day, its important that our soldiers know that they are not forgotten.”
Margaret said:
“When Janice told me what she wanted to do I was more than happy to support her. It’s something close to my own heart, as my son has served in the forces for 9 years and has been to Iraq.”
The Royal Mail is lending their support by delivering the parcels free of charge.
