Christmas arrangements at Hunters Lane Recycling Centre

Alternative waste disposal arrangements have been put in place for Rugby residents over the Christmas period.

Hunters Lane Household Waste Recycling Centre is currently being re-developed and will remain closed over the Christmas period. As Rugby Borough Council do not collect waste from householders over the Christmas period, two refuse vehicles will be situated outside the Hunters Lane site for residents to dispose of their waste. The vehicles will collect cardboard for recycling and general waste. This facility will be available to use from 27th December to 31st December only.

Warwickshire County Council has also funded an additional cardboard recycling facility outside the highways depot in Dunchurch. The provision of this facility is to help residents in the area dispose of their cardboard locally and will remain in place until Hunters Lane re-opens.

The programme of work to refurbish the HWRC is on schedule for the site to be open for Easter 2008 as planned.  Once open, the new site will offer a considerably improved recycling facility for local residents, but until the works are completed residents can use a variety of alternative facilities. For information and directions visit http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/waste or contact the waste management team on 01926 412593.

Project Manager, Jo Ingle, said: “The works are going well and are on schedule. As Rugby Borough Council don’t collect from the kerbside between Christmas and the New Year we have arranged this special facility that will enable residents to dispose of any excess waste arising over this period.”
