Young politicians visit Parliament

Fourteen aspiring politicians from Warwickshire have returned from a visit to Parliament.

The young people, who are Members of the Youth Parliament and Warwickshire’s County Youth Panel, visited Westminster as part of a political trip to London which was organised by Warwickshire County Council’s Youth and Community Service.
Warwickshire’s young representatives toured the Houses of Parliament and met with Mike O’Brien MP (Labour) for North Warwickshire, to find out more about what it’s like to be a Member of Parliament.

Shinderpaul Bhangal, Deputy Youth Officer for Warwickshire County Council, said:  “The young people exchanged many ideas during their trip and they really valued the chance to see the political process first hand. We are particularly proud of their contribution to local democracy in Warwickshire and we were delighted to arrange the trip.“

The County Youth Panel and Youth Parliament give young people aged from 11-19 the opportunity to voice their views on a number of issues that affect them by meeting councillors and other decision makers.
