Careers advice comes to Alderman Smith School

Year 9 students from Alderman Smith School in Nuneaton will tomorrow be taking part in a ‘Careers 4 U’ event organised by the Warwickshire Education Business Partnership.

The event is aimed at providing students with an insight into different careers, which may help them to make more informed decisions about their immediate futures.

The students will have the benefit of hearing from business representatives from companies such as: Warwickshire Fire and Rescue, Twycross Zoo, Land Rover, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council Sports Development, Warwickshire Police, DHL Exel, Coventry Evening Telegraph, Meggitt and Travelcare.

The visitors will talk to small groups of students about their job roles, qualifications required, entry routes, career progression opportunities etc.  The students will have the opportunity to ask questions and to gain as much information as possible as well as taking part in various activities based around widening their knowledge of different career choices and labour market information.

The EBP works as part of Warwickshire County Council with businesses and schools to help address the constant demand from employers for school leavers to be ‘work ready’.
