Pam retires after 33 years
A Rugby Home Carer, Pam Marshall, who cycled to work for the majority of her 33 years of employment is retiring.
Rugby Home care is part of Warwickshire County Councils service provision for Older People.
Pam explained that she lost her mum and dad just before she started work as a Home Carer. She said: “It has been a privilege to get to know and support so many older people.”
Pam remembers cycling to work on her first day, and has peddled in all weathers to ensure people always got a service.
Pam said: “When I first started the job I had to light coal fires, and many of the homes only had cold running water! So things have changed a lot over the years. I’ve met so many lovely people. I’ve put a lot in to the job but I’ve got just as much back.”
Margaret Fensome, Rugby Home Care Manager said: “Pam is an excellent member of the team, and was always prepared to go that ‘extra mile’ in times of crisis. She will be sadly missed but we hope she enjoys her retirement and wish her the best of luck for the future."
Pam now intends to take a well deserved holiday, and then enjoy spending time with her husband, 3 daughters and grandchildren.
