Local groups receive share of £100,000 fund

Fortune has shone down on 32 lucky community groups in Nuneaton and Bedworth who have all received a cut of a £100,000 cash pot.

Warwickshire County Council’s Nuneaton and Bedworth Area Committee and Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council were amazed when they received 60 applications from local groups asking for a portion of the £100,000 Community Plan Fund.

If every one of the requests had been met, then the total would have reached £239,000, so a panel of representatives, consisting of adults and young people, had the hard job of choosing which groups would be given the money.

The panel, facilitated by officers from Warwickshire County Council’s Nuneaton and Bedworth Area Team and Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, met at Stockingford Community Centre and debated for more than four hours to choose which projects should be funded, finally whittling it down to 32.
