Trinity School brings up the career

Trinity School – A Specialist Arts & Technology College in Leamington is hosting a Careers 4 U Event on 20th February in which pupils from Year 9 will be joined by representatives of many different careers and companies.

Organised by Warwickshire Education Business Partnership who work with schools, colleges and businesses to create innovative activities to help prepare young people for the world of work.

The session is part of Warwickshire County Council’s response to businesses commenting that it is helpful when young job applicants are more ‘work ready’ when they leave school and start seeking work.

The idea behind the day is to give the young people a good idea of the careers out there and the business people will be talking with them about the skills they need for the different job roles.

The business people will speak to small groups of students approximately four times over the course of the morning session and are from a variety of industries.

Dains Accountants, IBM, Job Centre Plus, Feldon Vets, Warwickshire Police, Ecoline (environmental specialists), Morgan Professional Services, HSBC, Total Management Learning (management training) and Jaguar are among the companies visiting the school.

Vanessa Morris, area co-ordinator for Warwickshire Education Business Partnership said:  “Days like this have mutual benefits for student and future employer alike.  Students are better prepared when it comes to the ‘real’ thing in future job applications and businesses can seek to employ young people who are more work-savvy at the point that they make career choices.”
