Careers advice comes to Nicholas Chamberlaine School
Year 9 students from Nicholas Chamberlaine School in Bedworth are today taking part in a ‘Choices 4 U’ event organised by the Warwickshire Education Business Partnership.
The event is aimed at providing students with an insight into different careers, which may help them to make more informed decisions about their immediate futures.
The students will be choosing their GCSE option subjects very shortly and information gleaned during the day will hopefully make them think more carefully about which subjects will be the most useful to them when they leave school.
They will have the benefit of hearing from business representatives from companies such as: Land Rover, Domestic and General, Dairy Crest, Meggitt Braking Systems, Coventry and Warwickshire Ambulance Service, Merlin Electrical, Warwickshire Police, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council Sport and Recreation, Jobcentre Plus, Coventry Evening Telegraph, Ellisons and Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Care.
The visitors will talk to small groups of students about their job roles, qualifications required, entry routes, and career progression opportunities.
The students will have the opportunity to ask questions and to gain as much information as possible as well as taking part in various activities based around widening their knowledge of different career choices and labour market information.
The EBP works as part of Warwickshire County Council with businesses and schools to help address the constant demand from employers for school leavers to be ‘work ready’.
