The Challenge is on for Young People with Special Needs
Young people with special needs from across Warwickshire will come together on Thursday 28th February to take part in this year’s Consumer Challenge Quiz.
The quiz, which is organised annually by Warwickshire County Council’s Trading Standards Service gives students with moderate learning difficulties the opportunity to find out more about their consumer rights and learn some important life skills.
Teams of students from five of Warwickshire’s Special Schools will be taking part this year. They are:
Brooke School, Rugby
Oak Wood Secondary School, Nuneaton
Round Oak School, Warwick
Welcombe Hills School, Stratford Upon Avon
Woodlands School, Coleshill
The winners will represent Warwickshire at this year’s National Finals to be held at the Trading Standards Institute Conference in Bournemouth in June.
Warwickshire County Councillor Richard Hobbs, Portfolio Holder for Community Protection said:
“Our Trading Standards Service is committed to helping ensure that young people are educated to become empowered and confident consumers.
This exciting and innovative event, which is now in its third year here in Warwickshire is designed to help young people with learning difficulties gain some practical knowledge of their rights as consumers.
I wish all the students participating in this year’s event the very best and hope they all have an enjoyable day.”
The awards will be presented by Graeme Betts, Director of Adult, Health & Community Services.
