Views flood in at Nuneaton consultation
Proposals to co-locate North Warwickshire and Hinckley College and King Edward VI College into the heart of Nuneaton town centre has prompted local people to turn out in force to express their views.
Both Warwickshire County Council and Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council are pleased to report that attendance at three exhibitions last week regarding the proposals to locate the colleges in the town centre has been very good.
Residents took the opportunity to give their views on the proposals, some in support and some voicing their opposition. Parking, traffic and the future of the library were the main areas of concern but others highlighted the potential economic benefits to the town as well as the improvement to education facilities for the borough.
And time is not up yet if people still want to make their voices heard with the consultation continuing online at http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/regeneration until 14 March, 2008.
Cllr Chris Saint, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, said: “I am pleased to see that so many members of the public have found the time to visit the exhibitions to see the proposals for themselves and discuss their impacts with county and borough council officers. I hope more people will visit the website to see the plans and I look forward to the outcome of the consultation.”
