Coventry City Football Club support young peoples FLARE!

Ten young people aged between 15 and 16 are getting ready to show that they have what it takes to complete Warwickshire County Council’s Fire and Rescue Service youth scheme – FLARE.

The passing out parade marks the final week of the course with participants each receiving a certificate for their commitment to the course and proving their ability to perform as part of a team.

As part of the course the young people received a visit from Coventry’s mid field star, Michael Huges, who was put through his paces in a hose and ladder drill.

Youth Development Officer, Moreno Francioso said:
“Receiving this level of support from Coventry City Football club has been great for the young people taking part. Michael spent a full day with the group talking to them about the importance of teamwork, communication and what it takes to succeed.

During the course, the students took part in a wide range of action-packed activities including orienteering, fire safety drills, abseiling, team building, driver safety, and first aid training. The aim of the activities were to improve their communication skills, build confidence, maintain self -discipline and help them to become a real team player.
