Higham Lane pupils get a pizza the action
Year 10 students at Higham Lane School in Nuneaton have this week been taking in a business challenge and take on the running of a virtual pizza business.
The event co-ordinated by the Warwickshire Education Business Partnership saw the 15-year-olds at the Business and Enterprise College participating in a computerised business simulation.
This involved them setting up and running a takeaway pizza shop. The exercise included tendering for a suitable shop site and making marketing, finance and personnel decisions, with a view to maximising profit.
Throughout the day the students were guided by expert advice from local business representatives from companies such as Jaguar, Land Rover, The Army, Meggitt Braking Systems, Coventry Building Society, Stagecoach, The Griff House Hotel, Warks. Police, Royal Navy, Dairy Crest, DHL Exel, Mira and TNT.
The EBP works as part of Warwickshire County Council with businesses and schools to help address the constant demand from employers for school leavers to be ‘work ready’.
