Pupils celebrate with St Patrick’s day feast

Pupils at St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School in Leamington will be celebrating their Saint’s day with a special Irish feast.

Famous as the day of Ireland’s patron saint, the 17 March is an annual feast day and Warwickshire’s County Caterers have fittingly created an Irish-themed school dinner to mark the occasion.

Pupils will be tucking into soda bread, Shannon lamb stew, cheese and vegetable potato cakes and country vegetables followed by Irish Brack (a fruit scone made with tea) or apple oatcakes with custard.

Lindsay Higgins, Development Manager for Warwickshire County Caterers, said: “We mark many religious and cultural events throughout the year and we were delighted to create the St Patrick’s Day lunch for the school. The menu features many Irish favourites and it’s nutritionally balanced too.”

The school will be dedicating the whole day to St Patrick, Ireland’s patron saint. In the morning pupils will be joined by the parish for Mass, before embarking upon a host of activities including Irish dancing.
