Government backing for Warwickshire’s Sustainable Schools Strategy

In a bid to support schools to become sustainable, and to help implement Warwickshire’s Sustainable Schools Strategy, the Government Department for Education has provided funding to carry out sustainability training with ten Warwickshire schools.

This is a Pilot Project involving headteachers and governors.  The first phase of training for Warwickshire schools took place this Monday at the HTI (Heads, Teachers and Industry) headquarters in Coventry.  This organisation has many years experience working with schools on sustainable development.

The day consisted of workshops, brainstorming sessions and exercises on what schools will be like in 20 years time.  Excellent feedback was received from the schools who attended the day.

In the future it is hoped that all schools will be able to receive the training which provides school leaders with the skills and knowledge to make proper informed choices about sustainability in their schools.
