Have your say on crime priorities in Kenilworth

People in Kenilworth are being encouraged to raise any concerns they may have about safety in their local community at the latest meeting of the town’s Safer Neighbourhoods Panel.

The meeting will take place at Kenilworth Youth Centre at 6.30pm on Monday 7th April. Safer Neighbourhoods Panels are typically made up of representatives from the Police, local authorities, Neighbourhood Watch, residents associations and the business community.

A public surgery, where people can raise their concerns face-to-face and help determine policing and crime prevention priorities for the town, will take up the first half hour of the meeting.

The Police and other panel members, including representatives from Warwickshire County Council, will be available to discuss any specific issues and problems.

Pauline Edwards, Chair of the Kenilworth Safer Neighbourhoods Panel, said: “We had our first big public meeting in November and over 100 people attended, which was a great turnout.

“We hope people will come to the Youth Centre on the 7th April and take advantage of this opportunity to raise their concerns and put forward suggestions for dealing with them in a relaxed environment.

“We want the local community to work with us to help set policing and crime prevention priorities in Kenilworth.”

The Safer Neighbourhoods Initiative has now been in existence for just over a year. Introduced as part of the Government’s drive to provide every community in the country with its own dedicated Neighbourhood Policing Team, communities in Warwickshire are served by several Safer Neighbourhood Panels.

Warwickshire County Council is involved in the Safer Neighbourhood Panels as part of its commitment to protecting the community and making the county a safer place to live.

Members of the public who wish to propose a community safety priority they’d like to see actioned at the meeting are asked to send details in advance to the address below.

People who are unable to attend the meeting but would like an issue to be raised for discussion can also either write to or email the same address.
Individuals who notify in advance that they want to raise an issue will take priority but, time allowing, other persons may also be able to raise a suggested priority. People are requested to check that their priorities are in the area covered by the Kenilworth Safer Neighbourhoods Panel, and this can be done by visiting http://www.safer-neighbourhoods.co.uk and inputting your postcode.
