Kenilworth temporary bus route change

Warwickshire County Council is reminding travellers that local bus operators Stagecoach and Travel Coventry will be using a temporary route through Kenilworth while Warwick Road is closed from next week.

This main road through the town will be closed in two sections lasting for around six months.

This is to allow Severn Trent to improve the sewerage system. The first section of Warwick Road to be closed will be between its junctions with Waverley Road and Clarkes Avenue. This is to start on Thursday, 17 April, earlier than its original planned start in May and last until August. The second section of Warwick Road to be closed will be between its junction with Clarkes Avenue and the Gyratory and this is planned from August until the end of the year.

The closure will have a significant impact on bus services operating through the town. Service 12 operated by Travel Coventry and Services 16, X17 & U2 operated by Stagecoach will be affected. Basically the two operators have agreed the following diversion from the Gyratory. Buses to Coventry will use Rouncil Lane, Mortimer Road, St. Nicholas Avenue, Randall Road to return to Warwick Road and resume their normal route. Buses to Leamington and Warwick will use the same route in reverse.

The extra time taken on the diverted bus routes may mean adjustments to timetables and these will be advertised by the operators on their buses and at bus stops shortly.

Details of any temporary bus service timetables in the Kenilworth area will also be displayed on the county council website http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/publictransport when these are known.
