Preparing a new generation

Business leaders from across Warwickshire and further afield are coming together next month to hear how their actions can help shape the futures of a new generation of workers.

The Warwickshire Education Business Partnership (WEBP) will be celebrating 15 years of successful partnership working with schools and businesses on 6th May at the Woodland Grange, Old Milverton Lane, Leamington Spa at the 2008 Employer Conference.

The event will be an opportunity for businesses not familiar with the breadth of work of the EBP to come along to the Woodland Grange and participate in a varied day, finding out more about how they can support the skills agenda and shape the UK’s future workforce.

The EBP is part of Warwickshire County Council, brokering links with businesses and schools and putting on events for pupils in schools, helping prepare young people for their adult and working life.

Delegates will hear from Steffan Aquarone, Managing Director of Full Range Media who has supported a large number of EBP events and Tim Over, Head Teacher of a Nuneaton school whose pupils have benefited from the links the EBP has supplied over a number of years.

Sheila Hancox, head of the EBP, said: “The conference will provide local employers with the opportunity to hear about the work of the EBP and how partnership working can provide a future workforce that is “Fit for Purpose”.”

Cllr Chris Saint, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, said: “The Education Business Partnership is doing wonderful work in reaching thousands of school children each year and preparing them in an engaging way for the world of work. Exercises range from very practical days to intensive interview training.”

Attendees can also participate in workshops covering subjects such as the 14-19 Education Agenda, Work Experience and the Corporate Social Responsibilities of employers.

The event is free of charge and will start at 9.00AM with coffee and registration. It will finish at 12.30PM with a networking lunch.
